Authorities: Route 46 strip mall stabbing result of family feud over money
Authorities say a man who was attacked in a strip mall parking lot on Route 46 in Elmwood Park stabbed two relatives during a fight that appears to be the result of a family feud over money.
The brawl at the mall broke out Wednesday, shortly before 5 p.m.
Authorities believe the 59-year-old man was called to the mall by his adult daughter, and he was met by five people as he got out of his car.
The group allegedly threw the man to the ground and began kicking him.
Police say he then broke free and stabbed one person in the head and another in the hand before driving away in his car.
The man suffered head injuries and has been hospitalized.
His son-in-law and three grandsons - ages 16, 20 and 21 - have been charged with assault.
