A Haddonfield resident who describes
himself as a "dating and relationship strategist" is
facing criminal
charges in connection the Jan. 6 riots at the Capitol.
Patrick Stedman, 32, was
arrested Thursday and charged with unlawful entry and disorderly conduct on
Capitol grounds. FBI agents found videos
of Stedman posted online during the riot. His Twitter profile, which was
included in the criminal complaint says, "I read people like books and
help them change their story."
A criminal complaint says he
posted videos of himself traveling to Washington, D.C. and taking part in the
breach. A witness told agents that
Stedman had been "encouraging his tens of thousands of fans to join him in
D.C. for weeks."
Included in the criminal complaint against him is a tweet from Stedman
on Dec. 30, which said, in part, "highly, highly recommend all Patriots
come to D.C. on the 6th. This will be a turning point in our nation. Will
eventually be a national holiday akin to the 4th of July. You will want to tell
your grandchildren you were there.”
The federal affidavit includes images that prosecutors say show Stedman
inside the capitol during the riot.
Stedman was scheduled to
make an initial court appearance Thursday in federal court in Camden.
It wasn't immediately known
if he had retained an attorney.
