The Union County Prosecutor’s Office has announced police in Summit were able to prevent a kidnapping attempt over the weekend after a 19-year-old woman was approached by a man driving a vehicle.
The incident occurred Saturday shortly after 4 p.m.
According to the preliminary investigation, the victim was walking on Fernwood Road, near Whittredge Road, when she was approached by an individual driving a white four-door sedan.
Authorities say Shervon James, 33, of the Vauxhall section of Union Township, is accused of trying to kidnap the woman walking.
