Burglars are making their rounds in Montclair and Verona neighborhoods, and residents of the Essex County towns say they are remaining vigilant.
"We have security cameras around the perimeter of the house. We are just vigilant," said Montclair resident Terrance Wilson.
Authorities in Verona are investigating the attempted burglary to a house on Claremont Avenue that occurred this past Saturday at approximately 3 a.m.
Based on preliminary findings and home surveillance videos, two unknown criminal suspects, one of them wearing a Halloween mask, tried to gain entry through the front door, a rear door and windows on both sides of the house.
Police say a luxury SUV was parked in the driveway and was most likely the target of the burglary attempt. The suspects didn't have any luck breaking into the house and eventually left.
"It's really bad. We work hard for our things and if someone takes our things, it’s bad," said Jordan Cadena.
According to Montclair authorities, last Saturday, two suspects tried to break into vehicles parked in the driveway of a home on Undercliff Road.
This past Wednesday morning, an unknown person attempted to enter a home on Afterglow Way through the rear door.
Montclair police are also investigating an incident that happened last Thursday when an unknown individual tried to break into a home on Porter Place.
