A multivehicle crash in Hunterdon County killed a 16-year-old girl on her first day of school and injured four other people this week, authorities say.

Prosecutors say Sophia Detorres was one of the passengers involved in the crash Thursday at the intersection of Hogback Road and Route 617.

Detorres died of her injuries while four other people were treated and released, according to officials.

Authorities say one person remains in critical condition and an investigation into the crash is ongoing.

A GoFundMe page was set up for Detorres’ family.

Services are set to be held for her next weekend.
