Police say three suspects remain at large following a pursuit Tuesday from Clifton through Newark.
Police say it started at 7:15 p.m. when they spotted a stolen Audi near Broad Street and Elmwood Drive. Police say the car had been taken from Hazlet, and it was entered as a felony vehicle due to crimes associated with the vehicle and its occupants.
Police say the driver of the stolen Audi wouldn’t stop, so they pursued the car on to Route 21 south and into Newark. Police say the three suspects eventually collided with two cars in Newark before bailing on foot. Some Clifton officers chased the suspects while other officers tended to the people involved in the motor vehicle accident, according to police. Two people suffered minor injuries.
Police say the foot pursuit continued through the streets of Newark and eventually into a nearby housing complex where the suspects were able to evade capture.
One officer was injured during the foot pursuit and was tended to by University Hospital EMS.
The suspects remain at large.
