Drivers in Asbury Park will soon need to slow down.
The city announced that it is reducing its speed limit from 30 to 25 mph along Main Street and Memorial Drive.
Officials say the change will give drivers more time to react, which will then reduce the number of crashes in Asbury Park. They also say the reduction will encourage people to walk or bike more.
“This collaboration is helping us make our roads safer for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists alike - improving quality of life for our residents and enhancing the experience for visitors,” Mayor John Moor wrote in a statement.
The new speed limit signs were installed along Main Street earlier this month. Signs along Memorial Drive will be installed in the upcoming weeks.
