An Asbury Park man has been indicted for allegedly killing his girlfriend’s Poodle in June.
Nicholas Winter, 36, was charged with third-degree animal cruelty resulting in death.
Officials say that the incident happened on June 4. They say that a woman called the police to report that her boyfriend had killed her 12-year-old dog named Bentley. When officers arrived, they found the male dog dead.
Officials say that Winter had previously texted his girlfriend threatening her dogs while she was at work. They say that the dog died from traumatic brain injury as a result of blunt force trauma.
Winter could face up to five years in prison if convicted.
