Authorities say they've made an arrest in a Hudson County hit-and-run that killed a 21-year-old Ramsey man in Hoboken.
Officials announced that 50-year-old Mark Nicholas, of Brooklyn, was arrested in connection to the death of Zachary Simmons.
Authorities say that Simmons was crossing a street in Hoboken June 25 when he was struck by an SUV driven by Nicholas. The vehicle fled the scene.
Investigators were able to gather several images of the SUV on various surveillance cameras around the city. Over the two-week investigation, they say they were able to identify Nicholas as the driver.
Simmons was the cousin of Ben Simmons, the No. 1 pick in this year's NBA draft.
After the fatal crash, Ben Simmons wrote in a Twitter post: "Hearing the news this morning is a reminder to never forget the important things in life."
Police say they're investigating what Nicholas was doing in Hoboken that night.
