Family and friends came together Saturday to honor late basketball star Anne Donovan, who died of heart failure earlier this month. She was 56.
Donovan is one of New Jersey's all-time athletes, and that's how she was celebrated at the event at her high school alma mater, Paramus Catholic.
Loved ones gathered at the place where Donovan made a name for herself on the court, before she made it to the Naismith Hall of Fame, won a college national title and won two Olympic gold medals as a player. Donovan was also the first female coach in the WNBA to win a title, and won a gold medal for team USA as a coach.
She was the youngest of eight children, and a few of her siblings shared some words Saturday in the school's auditorium.
Donovan's impact was seen in the turnout at Saturday's event, a who's who of women's basketball.
Loved ones remembered her as loyal, sincere, caring, competitive, patriotic and giving.
