Amtrak is telling passengers that it plans to increase security on its rail lines.The changes are starting with its service on the Northeast Corridor, which includes the Metropark Station in Iselin.

The company says it will be putting mobile security teams on platforms and trains for random screenings of carry-on items. The officers will have guns and use bomb-sniffing dogs.Amtrak says the measures are similar to those used on New York City subways. The company says anyone who refuses a random search will not be allowed to board a train.Most Garden State residents told News 12 New Jersey that they approve of the changes. Some said they felt security has been lacking and others said it is always better to be safe than sorry.
