Supporters of a move to issue driver’s licenses to immigrants who are living in the country illegally rallied at the State House Thursday.
The advocates are asking New Jersey lawmakers to expand driver’s license access so that immigrants in the country illegally are able to drive and obtain auto insurance.
They say that this would make it safer for everyone on the road in the event of a traffic accident.
Twelve states and Washington, D.C. already allow those living in the country illegally to obtain a driver’s license or driver’s permit.
