Authorities say they have grave robbers in custody who tried to steal memorial vases from George Washington Memorial Park.
According to police, 41 bronze vases from graves at the park were stolen to be sold as scrap metal. Three suspects have been charged in this case; Anthony Gallipoli, of Paterson, Michael Wright and Nicole Paletta, both of Hawthorne.
Police say they saw Gallipoli leaving the cemetery at 2 a.m. and found a bag of vases in his car. Most of the vases have been returned but those missing will cost $350 to replace.
