AAA is reminding drivers to be careful on New Jersey roadways as deer-mating season begins.
The company says that not only can striking a deer be dangerous, but it can also be expensive. The average cost is almost $6,000 to repair a vehicle after striking a deer in New Jersey.
AAA says that some ways to avoid an animal collision include using a vehicle’s high beams when there is no oncoming traffic at night, being especially attentive in the early morning and evening hours when animals are most active, and honking with one long horn blast if an animal is in the path.
