77-year-old man dies in Downtown Brooklyn collision with cyclist

Both operators collided and were ejected onto the pavement. Neither operators were wearing helmets.

Police have released new details have been released about a fatal collision involving an e-scooter and bicycle on Monday afternoon in Brooklyn.

The Collision Investigation Squad has determined that the cyclist, operated by a 47-year-old man, was traveling southbound outside the designated bike lane.  

The cyclist attempted to re-enter the lane where a 77-year-old man was travelling West Bound on Schermerhorn Street.  

Both operators collided and were ejected onto the pavement. Neither operators were wearing helmets.  

The 77-year-old man was transported to Methodist Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  

The cyclist remained on scene. There are no arrests and an investigation is ongoing.
