Person hospitalized with burns after Bergen County house fire

A 73-year-old man and his pet cat died in a house fire in Haddonfield Monday morning.

The fire occurred on Walnut Street around 7 a.m.

William Garthaus was found dead inside the residence.

Multiple firefighters and police officers were treated for smoke inhalation.

The fire does not appear suspicious but remains under investigation by local authorities.
