A family in Pequannock feels like they starred in their own horror movie Tuesday after a tree crashed onto their home.
Charlene Coviello says she heard a crack outside and then saw a tree branch come through her roof into the corner of her bed. She says she was sleeping with her daughter at the time and was able to pull the child toward the headboard and away from danger.
The tree also damaged the second-floor bathroom and caused some structural damage to the ground floor of the Madison Street house.
Tree experts blame high winds and a rotted base for the incident.
The family will cover the hole in the roof with a tarp. It hopes to get the hole repaired before the next big snowfall.
