Health officials say there are five probable cases of swine flu in the Garden State.
Officials say four of the five cases involve people that visited Mexico. The fifth person, according to officials, was in California.
Hackensack University Medical Center officials say they are taking measures to prepare in the event of an outbreak.
"For the patients, we have reinforced our respiratory hygiene etiquette, so if they start coughing, we put a mask on them, we ask our staff to wear one as well and stay at least six feet away from the patients," Dr. Edward Yamin says.
There are at least 64 confirmed cases of swine flu in the United States, including 28 students at a preparatory school in Queens. Swine flu is suspected in up to 152 deaths in Mexico, with 20 deaths confirmed so far.
