Five cases of swine flu have been confirmed in New Jersey from among a group of people who recently traveled to Mexico and California.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed the five cases, which had been delayed because of a backlog. Another two probable cases were identified on Wednesday, but those have yet to be confirmed.
New Jersey health officials say the five people with confirmed cases of swine flu include three from Burlington County, a 43-year-old Monmouth County woman and a 22-year-old woman from Bergen County. The confirmed cases in Burlington County all come from one family, and includes two school-aged children.
The state Health and Senior Services Department says all five confirmed cases have mild forms of the flu and none have been hospitalized.
