The murals painted inside a Marlboro school won't be painted over after all.
Retired Asher Holmes Elementary School art teacher David Wells painted the series of murals inside the school back in 1973.
School officials were initially planning on painting over the murals as part of a project to freshen up and repair the school. The decision angered many parents, students and former faculty, who signed an online petition to save the murals.
The school superintendent now says that the district will work with Wells to freshen up the murals so they can be saved.
