Police say three teens were killed in car crashes in central New Jersey over the weekend in two separate incidents.
A car carrying five teens spun out of control Saturday night near the Brunswick Square Mall in East Brunswick. Police say the car slid sideways and hit a traffic light, killing 16-year-old Dana Centanni of Lincroft. The passengers were rushed to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center.
The 17-year-old driver of the car was treated and released from the hospital Sunday. One of the passengers remains in the hospital with severe internal injuries.
Freehold families are also in mourning after a Friday night crash claimed the lives of 20-year-old Michael Baldwin and 19-year-old Michael Phillips. Two other teens were in the car at the time. Police say the driver lost control of the car, hit a telephone pole and flipped over. All of the passengers were ejected from the vehicle.
A teen from the Freehold crash is said to be in critical condition.
Police believe some of the teens involved in both crashes were not wearing seat belts.
