Investigators are seeking the cause of a fire that killed three people and damaged at least four units at a Hillsborough apartment complex.
Somerset County authorities say the fire at the Hillsborough Garden Apartments was reported around 10 p.m. Monday. It apparently started in a second-floor apartment.
Witnesses say the fire quickly spread to three more apartments before it was contained.
The three victims were all found in an upstairs corner unit where officials say the fire may have started. Their names have not been released pending notification of relatives.
Officials say no other residents were injured in the blaze.
The American Red Cross responded to the scene and is providing assistance to 12 residents who were displaced.
The blaze was the third fatal fire in Somerset County this year.
