Three armed men have been arrested at the La Quinta hotel along Route 3 in Clifton after being holed up inside for several hours, officials say.
A spokesman for the Clifton Police Department says the men were wanted for the armed robbery of a taxi driver. While being pursued by police, they escaped and went into the hotel.
Law enforcement departments from several surrounding towns converged on the hotel, blocking all the exits. Hotel guests, as well as patrons of the Red Robin restaurant attached to the hotel were told to stay inside.
No one was allowed into or out of the hotel while the investigation was underway.
Eventually the suspects were captured and are now awaiting charges. Their names have not been released by police.
Traffic along Route 3 East in the area was affected for a time during the incident.
