A Yonkers man is facing charges after police said he exposed himself to a woman on the Aqueduct Trailway in Hastings-on-Hudson.

Village police said the woman reported that the incident happened last Wednesday while she was walking on the trailway. Two days later, officers conducting additional patrols received a report of a suspicious person matching the description provided in the earlier incident.

Police identified the suspect as Manuel Debrito, 57, of Yonkers, and charged him with public lewdness.

Police said Debrito was also charged in a similar incident in 2024. Authorities are asking anyone who may have experienced similar incidents or has information to contact Hastings-on-Hudson police at 914-478-2344 or 914-478-3400.

Residents who use the trail said the incident caused concern in the community. One neighbor said people were "a little freaked out," while another said he was surprised to hear about the allegations in a village he considers safe.

The organization Helping Survivors says anyone who experiences a similar situation on a trailway should get to a safe place or find someone who can help, then call police immediately once they are safe.
