Stamford man accused of possessing illegal firearm

Detectives from the Stamford Police Department's Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit received a tip Monday that a man who had a firearm was near Soundview Avenue and Wardwell Street.

A Stamford man is facing multiple charges for allegedly possessing an illegal gun, police say.

Detectives from the Stamford Police Department's Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit received a tip Monday that a man who had a firearm was near Soundview Avenue and Wardwell Street.

Detectives and the K-9 Unit located and detained Luis Martinez.

Officers searched the 39-year-old man and recovered a Kel-Tec .32 caliber semi-automatic handgun loaded with seven rounds.

He was charged with possession of a pistol without a permit and illegal transfer of a firearm.

Martinez is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 31.
