Traffic stop on I-195 leads to arrest of registered sex offender and discovery of AR-15-style ghost gun

A traffic stop on I-195 led to the arrest of two Ocean County men and the discovery of a loaded ghost gun, according to police.
Wall Township authorities say Patrolman Trent Powers stopped a vehicle on I-195 around 11 p.m. on Aug. 3 after observing a traffic violation.
During the investigation, officers learned that passenger Jarrone Perry, 47, of Jackson, was wanted on an active warrant issued by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office for allegedly failing to register as a sex offender.
Perry was taken into custody without incident.
Police say Brick Township K-9 Officer LaPoint and K-9 Rebel responded to assist with the investigation. After K-9 Rebel alerted to the vehicle, officers conducted a search.
Investigators say the search uncovered a loaded AR-15-style privately manufactured firearm, commonly referred to as a ghost gun.
Perry and the driver, 18-year-old Christopher Ojeda Jr. of Toms River, were both charged with possession of an unserialized firearm, possession of hollow-point ammunition, possession of an assault firearm, unlawful possession of a rifle and unlawful possession of a loaded firearm.
Perry was additionally charged with certain persons not to have weapons.
Both men were processed and transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.
