Jersey City shooting leaves one person dead, another injured

The cause and manner of his death are under investigation with the medical examiner’s office.

The Jersey City police department responded to reports of shots fired on Orient Avenue near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at approximately 2:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found 38-year-old Jenardo Tejada injured with apparent gunshot wounds.

Tejada, of Jersey City, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The cause and manner of his death are under investigation with the medical examiner’s office.

A second victim, was identified as a 45-year-old man also from Jersey City. Police found him on Jackson Square with an apparent gunshot wound.

The incident is being investigated by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department.
