Two Jamesburg police officers rescued a baby raccoon after finding it with its head stuck inside a peanut butter jar, the department said.
Patrol officers carefully freed the young animal, giving it "a second chance," according to the department.
Police also thanked Helmetta residents who helped with the rescue.
"Protecting and serving means caring for every member of our community, even the ones with paws," the department said in a social media post, thanking the officers for their "kindness, patience, and dedication."
The department added a lighthearted message for the rescued raccoon:
"Stay curious, little one… just maybe skip the peanut butter jars from now on!"
