Three people accused of operating a shoplifting ring responsible for multiple incidents in northern New Jersey were arrested on Tuesday.
The Paramus Police Department says their investigation began after they received reports about a theft at a store inside the Willowbrook Mall in Wayne.
Investigators located the suspects at the Westfield-Garden State Plaza and began surveilling them while they visited several shops.
Edwin Venegas-Perez, Lina Parada and Maria Carmen Forero were apprehended by police as they attempted to leave the mall.
Officers recovered 46 clothing items with a retail value of over $3,000 during the investigation. They also found tools commonly used to evade anti-theft security devices.
The charges against the trio include receiving stolen property, shoplifting/organized retail theft and possession of burglary tools.
Police say they were processed and lodged in the Bergen County Jail pending their first court appearance.
