1 person hospitalized following lithium-ion battery fire in Fort Greene

A fire in a Fort Greene high‑rise sent one person to the hospital on Friday night, according to the FDNY.

The call came in around 11 p.m. for a fire on the eighth floor of a 13‑story residential building at 68 Cumberland Walk, between Park Avenue and Carlton Avenue.

Fire officials said 21 units and 79 FDNY and EMS personnel responded. A specialized hazmat unit was requested due to the presence of a lithium‑ion battery at the scene.

One civilian was transported to a local hospital. No additional information on their condition was immediately available.

The fire was placed under control at 11:32 p.m.
