An Egg Harbor City man was sentenced Tuesday to four years in state prison for distributing child sexual assault material, prosecutors said.

Mark Hacker, 47, was sentenced May 26 to four years in New Jersey State Prison, parole supervision for life and Megan’s Law registration on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.

Prosecutors said the case began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a cyber tip from the messaging app KIK on Sept. 11, 2023, about a media file showing a juvenile female being sexually exploited or abused.

Investigators with the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office traced the KIK account to Hacker and later found he had shared 10 other files on KIK depicting juvenile females being sexually exploited or abused, prosecutors said.

A cellphone recovered from Hacker contained the KIK app, but prosecutors said the shared files were not recovered from any of his devices.

Hacker pleaded guilty in November 2025 to endangering the welfare of a child by distributing child sexual assault material.

At sentencing, Hacker requested a suspended sentence instead of prison, citing medical conditions and that it was his first criminal conviction. Judge Donna Taylor denied the request, and Hacker was taken into custody to begin serving his sentence.
