A shooting incident left one person dead and another injured early Saturday morning in Bridgeport, according to police.

Officers responded to the 690 block of Beechwood Avenue, where multiple ShotSpotter activations went off.

A ShotSpotter uses audio recognition to alert police when shots are fired near the devices.

Upon arrival, officers found a victim with a gunshot wound. They were brought to St. Vincent’s Hospital and pronounced deceased.

The victim was identified as 25-year-old Jerome Roshaun Alexander, of Meriden.

A second victim, a 32-year-old Bridgeport woman, was shot while in a parked car.

The driver of the vehicle drove her to Bridgeport Hospital, where she was treated for a minor gunshot wound to the shoulder.

Police say the murder of Jerome Roshaun Alexander is the city's second homicide of 2026.

No arrests have been made, and police are still investigating the matter.
