Bridgeport Public Schools got a "record-setting lifeline" from the state in form of a cash infusion.

The $25 million in state aid announced Monday for Bridgeport Public Schools is part of a broader $35 million funding package designed to address a critical budget shortfall, said Interim School Superintendent Dr. Royce Avery during a press conference at Fairchild Wheeler School on the city's West End.

"This historic investment aims to stabilize the district’s finances and prevent devastating cuts to essential staffing and student services," Avery said.
