Supporters gathered outside a Bed-Stuy home Monday morning after word spread that officers could show up to remove a family from the property.

The rally happened on Jefferson Avenue, where people held signs and chanted in support of the family of Carmella Charrington. At one point, the crowd shouted, “We will win,” as they stood outside the home.

Despite those concerns, no officers were seen attempting to evict at the location while News 12 was there.

Family members say the situation has left them feeling trapped in their own home, unsure of what could happen next.

The dispute centers around Charrington, her father and a legal case tied to his care and control of the property.

Charrington’s family and supporters describe the situation as a case of deed theft, claiming the home is being taken without permission. However, the state attorney general’s office disputes that, calling it a property dispute between family members.

The situation has drawn growing attention in recent days. Last week, Charrington was arrested, adding to the tension surrounding the case.

Her son, William McFadden, says the fight has taken a toll on the family.

“We just wanted to document and show people — this is happening to us… and it could happen to you,” he said.

Supporters say they are prepared to keep showing up for the family as the situation continues to unfold.
