Endangerment case against Westchester basketball coach dismissed
Westchester educator says he's pleased a child endangerment case against him has been dropped.

The case against a Westchester basketball coach accused of endangering a student with autism has been dismissed.
On Thursday, Jonathan Merceus was officially cleared of all charges related to allegations that he obstructed the breathing of a student.
He was charged with endangering the welfare of a student in December.
He worked at Shrub Oak International School in Yorktown.
Last month, a grand jury determined no charges were warranted and voted to dismiss the case.
Merceus says he’s happy the truth came to light.
“I'm just thankful that it's finally cleared up. I really hoped that shrub oak would have handled this a little differently. Like I said, this allegation led it to a felony that absolutely destroyed me professionally,” he explained. “Like I said before, embarrassed my family within this community, that I care for so much. But again, I'm just happy that it's over.”
Merceus’s attorney says he looks forward to continuing his commitment to education, mentorship and athletics.
