U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent was in Westchester County on Friday to hold a roundtable talk at the Hill Boulevard Diner in Jefferson Valley.
Bessent talked about taxes with local leaders and residents.
One parent asked about the new federal investment accounts for kids. He said his kids were born a few years ago and wanted to know if they'd still be eligible.
"Any child under the age of 18 is eligible for a Trump Account," Bessent said. "They don't get the $1,000 initial seed investment. But what they can get, you can contribute tax-free up to $5,000 to them."
The accounts are available for kids born between January of last year and December of 2028.
The secretary did not take questions from reporters.
