At 82, retired math teacher Larry Thomas is taking flight again after a major coronary blockage sidelined him.
The Guinness World Record-holding skydiver had made more than 4,200 jumps before the diagnosis ended them.
Everything changed when a team led by Dr. Rachana Kulkarni at RWJBarnabas Health implanted a Watchman device.
It allowed him to stop blood thinners—the reason he couldn’t skydive—while reducing his stroke risk.
Now, Thomas will “fly” alongside Kulkarni and his care team Wednesday afternoon at iFLY in Edison, an indoor skydiving simulator, to share his favorite hobby on a smaller scale.
