A lot of towns around New Jersey still rely on volunteers to staff their EMS and rescue squads. That changed in Brick Township 20 years ago.

It was a milestone marked this weekend. EMS and Rescue Squad members gathered for their annual awards dinner.

2026 marks 20 years since Brick began paying their paramedics and support staff.

At first, only six people were on payroll. It's now evolved to over 50 full- and part-time positions.

In those 20 years, they've responded to almost 200,00 calls.

It was certainly a happy anniversary to the Brick Township crew.
