Pat's Angels, CBA Surf Team serve hundreds of Thanksgiving meals in Asbury Park

A dedicated group of volunteers known as “Pat’s Angels” once again helped serve the Jersey Shore in and around Asbury Park.
Besides providing hundreds of meals, the angels brought along some young friends with them, teaching the high schoolers an important lesson in community service and giving back.
These angels have prepped for days making sure everyone has a special Thanksgiving for folks like Albert, a United States Veteran.
“I am appreciative for what everyone is doing here especially with the giving and happiness and joy that is going on,” said Albert.
“It’s really worth the while you know to be free because some of these other countries and you see what’s going on there, they don’t have the freedom we have.”
The commander of this army of volunteer angels is Pat Sherman, who has been a force in Asbury Park organizing the holiday meals for well over 20 years.
“Especially since the snap benefits and all that nonsense happened, the need is incredible,” said Sherman, founder of Feeding Frenz.
This year’s Thanksgiving dinner also includes a mini food pantry and all the essentials for the upcoming cold winter weather, and it could not have made possible with the help of the volunteers from the surf team at Christian Brothers Academy High School.
Andrew Abatemarco and the entire CBA surf team did the heavy lifting of setting up the auditorium at Trinity Church, then jumped on the lines to serve.
“A lot of these kids especially going to CBA are a little more fortunate than others and I really hope this opens their eyes a little bit if they’re not open already,” said Abatemarco.
“I love it. I don’t want to spend the holiday any other way. It’s what it is, it’s what we do,” said Sherman.
“God just bless everyone and wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving,” said Albert.
