A 12-year-old boy is recovering in University Hospital after being hit by a car in Newark last night.

The incident occurred while the child was walking in the area of 2nd and Summer avenues.

Thankfully, the boy is reported to be in stable condition.

Police have stated that the driver remained on the scene, cooperating with the investigation.
