Prosecutor: Driver in fatal Newark pedestrian strike charged with suspended license

Authorities say the driver stayed on the scene and was charged with driving with a suspended license.

A 32-year-old man was struck and killed Wednesday by a car in Newark, prosecutors say.

It happened at the intersection of Route 21 and Tichenor Street. The victim was taken to University Hospital where he later died.

Police haven't released the identity of the man.

According to prosecutors, the driver stayed on the scene and was charged with driving with a suspended license.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Crime Scene Investigations Bureau is investigating the incident.
