Many teens admit to too much screen time on their phones, study says

A new study has found that more than a third of teenagers think they look at their phones too much.
Pew Research says around 40% of the teens surveyed say they log too many hours on smartphones and social media. That same percentage feels the need to cut back on screen time but admits to feeling anxious without their phones, according to the study.
Pew Research Center says this survey of 1,453 U.S. teens ages 13 to 17 and their parents was conducted from Sept. 26, 2023 to Oct. 23, 2023.
According to the survey, 95% of teens have access to a smartphone, and about 6 in 10 say they use TikTok, Snapchat or Instagram.
While the survey says today’s teenagers are more digitally connected than ever, the surgeon general says 13 years old (the minimum age to sign up for many social media platforms) is too young.
