Without any fanfare or notification, Jenkinson's at Point Pleasant Beach unlocked three of the beach access gates along its 1-mile stretch of boardwalk over the weekend.

The move was first announced on social media by Point Pleasant Beach Mayor Paul Kanitra. It comes two weeks after the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection sent a letter to Jenkinson's warning them they were in violation of public access regulations for locking the entrances.

The access areas now open from north to south are the Inlet Pavilion, Main Pavilion and Forman Avenue.
