News 12 anchor Rick Holmes threw out the first pitch at Wednesday night’s Somerset Patriots game.

The Patriots are getting ready for the playoffs, which begin on Sept. 19.

The departure of Jason Dominguez, who got called up to the New York Yankees, opened up a spot for Spencer Jones, the No. 1-rated prospect in the organization.

Jones was a first-round pick in the 2022 draft. He is a left-hander who is joining the club as the Patriots go for their second straight Eastern League championship. 

The Patriots’ first playoff home game will be at TD Bank Ballpark on Sept. 21.
