New Jersey has seen another string of catalytic converter thefts - this time in Red Bank. Police say at least three thefts happened Tuesday night and all the targets were Volkswagen Jettas.
Police are warning all residents - especially those with Volkswagens - to remain cautious.
Red Bank police say the thefts happened at these locations: Shrewsbury Avenue and Newman Springs Road, Leighton Avenue and Catherine Street, and Hudson Avenue and East Bergen Place. They are advising residents in the area to check their security cameras.

Catalytic converter thefts are a national problem. It takes only a few seconds for a criminal to cut the catalytic converter from the underside of a car. Thefts of catalytic converters rose 300% in 2020.
On the black market, these items can fetch several hundred dollars. They could cost car owners nearly $2,000 to replace.
