A 2-year-old boy is recovering after being locked in a boiling hot SUV for more than three hours Tuesday.
Police say Meira Lebovits, 33, was supposed to bring her friend's son to daycare in the morning. She had five children in the car to drop off.
After going home for more than three hours, Lebovits made a run to the Home Depot in Clifton. She noticed the child was in the vehicle and unresponsive when she arrived at the store. She then removed the child from the car and ran for help.
At that point, a person from inside the store came to the child's aid and performed CPR until the authorities arrived.
The boy is alert and in stable condition, according to police. His parents had been on vacation in Vermont and authorities say they are on their way home to join him at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Lebovits is now facing child endangerment charges for the incident. The woman and her family refused to comment, but police describe her as distraught over the whole ordeal.
