(AP) - Separate street shootings in New Jersey'slargest city this weekend have left two people dead and anotherinjured.
Detective Todd McClendon, a Newark police spokesman, said therewere no indications that the shootings were connected. But it wasnot clear what sparked either incident, and the names of those shotwere not disclosed.
The first, which occurred at about 5:45 p.m. Saturday at WestKinney Street and MLK Boulevard, left a city teenager dead and aman wounded.
The 17-year-old boy was shot multiple times in the torso, whilethe man was shot in the leg. However, his wound was not consideredlife-threatening.
A 21-year-old Newark man was then shot several times in thechest and buttocks at Sunset and 18th avenues around 7 a.m. Sunday.
Newark police and the Essex County Prosecutor's Office wereinvestigating both shootings.
