Two men have been charged following a multi-agency investigation into cocaine distribution in Passaic County, authorities said.
Officials said the investigation determined that Gregory Thomas Delgado, 28, of Emerson, and Carlos Enrique Vanegas, 35, of Paterson, were involved in distributing cocaine in Passaic County and surrounding areas.
Officials say that during the investigation, an undercover detective bought about one ounce of cocaine from Vanegas, who authorities said was acting in partnership with Delgado.
Detectives later learned that Vanegas was already in custody at the Bergen County Jail on unrelated charges, police said.
On Feb. 24 at about 4 p.m., detectives with the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration located Delgado in Paramus and took him into custody without incident. He was transferred to the Passaic County Jail pending court proceedings, police said.
Delgado is charged with possession of cocaine, distribution of cocaine, distribution of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a public school and conspiracy to distribute cocaine.
Vanegas faces two counts each of possession of cocaine, distribution of cocaine and distribution of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a public school, as well as one count of conspiracy to distribute cocaine, according to officials.
