Two Hudson County cities have new mayor-elects this morning

At-large Councilwoman Emily Jabbour defeated Councilman Michael Russo in Hoboken, while Councilman James Solomon soundly defeated former Gov. Jim McGreevey in Jersey City.

Both runoffs occurred because none of the candidates in November’s general election received more than 50% of the vote.

In a social media statement, Jabbour said, “I am incredibly humbled and honored by the trust that the people of Hoboken have placed in me.”

Solomon told News 12 yesterday that he plans to work very hard for the residents of Jersey City.
