Several dogs will be up for adoption this week after being rescued from what officials are calling "deplorable conditions" in Freehold.
Officials tell News 12 New Jersey five adult dogs and six puppies were found in a couple's backyard covered in urine and feces with little or no food and water.
The other animals were discovered inside their home in crates and carriers that were apparently too small for them.
Monmouth County SPCA officials say the pair has been charged and the animals were turned over.
